Presentation to Matt Clarke of Hawkshead Brewery for "NZPA", 2012Beer of the Year : 10 April 2013

A large group of members gathered in the Counting House in Glasgow to witness the presentation of the Strathalbyn Cup to Matt Clarke, Hawkshead's Hear Brewer.

NZPA is a strong beer made with New Zealand hops and is a particular favourite amongst Glasgow's real ale drinkers.

Presentation to Lars Brunner of the Tigh-an-Truish, Clachan Seil : Argyll Pub of the Year 2012 : 24 November 2012

A small but intrepid band of Clyde-based members made the long train (and for one, bus) journey for a day out to Oban. From here, after sampling two pubs, one newly opened and a very familiar one, we took a taxi over the Atlantic bridge to the Tigh-an-Truish on Seil Island.

Here we met up with local member Ian Parson and his wife to discuss the changing real ale scene in the area. Later Lars Brunner (left on pitcure) was presented with our Pub of the Year certificate by Branch Secretary Stan Thompson.

Three different Fyne Ales were on offer, all in very good condition. Afterwards it was back to Oban to visit one more new real ale outlet before taking the train home. Click on the photo to see more.

Presentation to the State Bar : Glasgow Pub of the Year 2012 : 29 October 2012

The State Bar in Holland Street has long been renown for the quality and choice of its real ales and during 2012 CAMRA members have been particularly impressed. So much so that we decided to make them our Pub of the Year.

Presentation to Gary Winning of the Clydesdale, Lanark : Lanarkshire Pub of the Year 2012 : 6 October 2012

Since Wetherspoon took over this former hotel, it has increased the variety and popularity of real ale in the town. With the arrival of manager Gary Winning, the pub has become a thriving, friendly local, popular with families, diners and regular ale drinkers who have enjoyed a varied selection of real ales served in excellent condition.

As a result the Clydesdale has also earned an entry in the CAMRA 2013 Good Beer Guide.
