Both trips were well received by the members who attended.
Thanks to the Glasgow & West of Scotland Branch Secretary, Annabel Young, for providing the food at the Members' Bar. The pies were great!
Thanks to Sue Novaks for promoting the 2005 Members' Weekend in Glasgow in What's Brewing. Her articles in the March and April editions helped to spurn members into making the journey to Glasgow.
Thanks must go to the CAMRA HQ staff especially John Cottrell for the production of the flyers, memos to members, the Members' packs and the Handbook. Although, it must be said, the dots in the map in the centre pages of the Handbook were HQ's doing, not the Committee's, and I apologise on HQ's behalf if you had difficulty finding the Members' Bar and various pubs. Apologies also must be sent to Lindsay Grant, the Handbook Organiser, and the Ayrshire CAMRA members for the typo in the Handbook, which was corrected by us, but not amended by HQ, and was printed as ATR in the heading for the Troon and Ayr Pub Crawl.
Brian needs a wee thank you. He is the man who lived in a wee flat behind Elvis in the Members' Bar. He was there for a week, helping us with the Members' Bar. He said he would join CAMRA. Well he drank enough real ale to warrant it!
Thanks to whomever you wish for the lovely weather …
Thanks also to Anita Burns for helping Neil Leeson with organising the event initially in 2001. We would like to thank Strathclyde University for the use of the absolutely stunning Barony Hall. How many members drifted off to sleep, not with the amount of alcohol consumed the night before, nor with the overly long speeches but with the lovely colours playing through the stained glass windows onto the beautiful red sandstone?
Thanks must go to the sponsors and friends of CAMRA who assisted the Weekend:
Artist Alisdair Gray for the use of his logo, The Bon Accord, The Three Judges, Blackfriars, Wetherspoons, Annabel's of Arrochar, Belhaven Brewery, Bridge of Allan Brewery, Heather Ales, Broughton Ales, Caledonian Brewing Co., Inveralmond Brewery, Fyne Ales, Harviestoun Brewery, Auchentoshan Distillery, Houston Brewing Co., Orkney Brewery, Atlas Brewery, The Port Royal Hotel, The Scottish Brewing Archive, Conference Glasgow, Visit Glasgow, The Scottish Carnival Arts Centre, The Barony Hall and The Scottish Brewing Archive. Apologies if I missed anyone!
The Organising Committee apologised profusely for the Members' Bar, but in hindsight, it was a success because it was deemed to be OLD CAMRA. Soon after, however, the phrase RETRO CAMRA raised its head. We would like to thank all those who understood our problems! We hope you enjoyed our Members' Bar, because Elvis, Tutankhamen and Brian did!
